A note on insurance: Equipment owners are responsible for ensuring their equipment is adequately insured for hire use. Hirers should hold appropriate insurance for the equipment they operate. We recommend speaking to your insurer before listing. Our team can provide guidance when we get in touch after your registration.

Common questions

What does it cost to list my equipment?
Nothing. Listing is completely free. We only charge commission when a rental is completed — 5% for early adopters in the first six months, then 10%. No monthly fees, no subscription, no upfront charges.
What does Heron Hire do for me once I list?
We actively market your listing to people in your local area — targeted ads on Facebook, Instagram, and Google. We use AI to write and optimise your listing content, help you present photos professionally, and send you a monthly performance report. You have live dashboard access at all times.
How do I get paid?
Renters pay through Heron Hire's Stripe-powered checkout before the hire starts. Stripe holds the payment and pays it directly to your nominated bank account once the booking is complete. Card processing fees are absorbed in the commission and not deducted separately.
What if a renter damages my equipment?
Renters pay a refundable damage deposit at booking, held by Stripe and returned only once you confirm the equipment came back in good condition. If there's a dispute, our team will assist. We also recommend your equipment is covered by appropriate hire-use insurance.
Do I have to accept every booking?
No. Every request comes to you first and you choose to approve or decline. Review the renter's verified profile, check their history and reviews, and block dates when your equipment isn't available.
What equipment can I list?
Any machinery or equipment you legally own and can hire out in safe working condition. Common listings include excavators, skid steers, ride-on mowers, wood chippers, trailers, compactors, tillers, aerators, pressure washers, generators, and attachments. If it can be hired, it can be listed.
